Taichung is the second largest city in Taiwan and was also called the Kioto of Formosa during the Japanese rule around 1900. Peace and tranquility, combined with a large number of temples is what the Japanese loved about this city. And even now you can visit Taichung for art, culture and history. The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is highly recommended, but the National Museum of Science is also worth a visit.
